About Taiwan

Taiwan as known as Formosa is shaped like a leaf that is narrow at both ends. It lies off the southeastern coast of mainland Asia. Many airlines fly to Taiwan, making it the perfect travel destination.

Climate
Taiwan enjoys warm weather all year round. Weather conditions fluctuate during spring and winter, while in summer and autumn the weather is relatively stable. During raining season (March to May), continuously drizzling rain will sometimes fall on Taiwan. When visiting Taiwan during this period, remember to carry an umbrella at all time.

Language
The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese. However, Minnan (the Southern Min dialect or Heluo) is also widely spoken. The groups of Hakka people and indigenous tribes have also preserved their own languages. The most popular foreign language in Taiwan is English, which is part of the regular school curriculum.

Public Transport
Bus and taxi can be found in most of the major cities in Taipei. You can travel from city to city by high speed railways or railways as well. In Taipei and Kaohsiung, MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) system are one of the most popular transportations for people.

Food
Since many different cultures have been introduced to Taiwan, a vast range of foreign food has appeared. There are all kinds of cuisine, from northern-style to southern-style in Taiwan. Any food you think of can virtually be found in this country.
